Leo Learns a Great Lesson

    In a far away land where animals could talk there lived a lion named Leo. He wanted everything for himself. One day he was talking with his friends. He found out that Leni (the monkey) owned a golden banana. He wanted it for himself. One day Leni decided to go on a vacation to Monkeyfornia. He put Leo in charge of checking on his farm everyday while He was gone. Everyday Leo went to Leni's house and checked on all his pets and fed them all.

    One day Leo cleaned Leni’s house for him and while doing so, he found the golden banana, and picked it up. He figured out that it was not solid. It had a hinge on it. He opened it and found a map inside it. The map was to a cave. He put the map back inside the golden banana and then took the banana.

    The next day Leo got the banana out of his dresser and got ready to go find the cave. The map said to go North 5 minutes and then West 14 minutes. When he was ready he left to go find the cave. It took him a while, because it was hidden in the trees.

    Once Leo found the cave, he looked on the map to see where the safe was so he could find the other golden banana. Once he found where the safe was, he smashed the wall to get to it. The code to the safe was on the map. He got the safe open. Inside, he found a smaller golden banana.

    Inside that banana was a map of the cave. Also on the map it said where the gold was, where there was a bed, water, lights, and food. He went and explored the cave. He found the lights right away. After he turned them on, he kept looking for the bed, water, and food. After looking around for them, for around 1/2 hour, he found the bed, water, and food. He kept on looking until he found the gold. He went outside the cave; it was pitch black and raining very hard. Leo went back inside to the bed and went to sleep.

    The next morning he got up, ate, drank water, and got some gold. He went to the entrance and put the small banana back in the safe. He went to Leni's house to put the bigger banana back. Once he put it back, he went and fed the animals. He let the cows into the pasture to graze. He brushed the horses and let them into the smaller pasture to eat.

    He went and found the lawn mower, filled it with gas and oil, and mowed the front lawn. When he was finished he filled it with gas again, and mowed the backyard. When he was done with the mowing, he put the mower away.

    He decided to wash the house that day instead of doing it the next day. He went inside the house to get soap, and a scrub brush. Once back outside he hooked up a water hose to use to spray the house. Leo had a fun time washing the house. He got really wet. When he was done, he went to the back of Leni's woods to the river and jumped in. It was so refreshing and cool. After swimming in it for 1/2 an hour, he got out, and walked back to Leni's house. When he got back he saw someone walking inside Leni's house. Leo went inside. It was Leni back from His vacation. Leni asked Leo if He had opened the banana. He said NO, lying to Leni. Leni told Leo to go home.

    That night Leo thought about going back to the cave to get more gold for himself. He decided to go get it the next morning instead.

    The next morning he went to the cave. He was gathering the gold up to take with him when he heard someone coming. He hid behind a pile of gold. He was not hidden well enough, for Leni found him. They talked for a while. Leni asked "Why did you lie to me and say that you did not open the golden banana?" Leo said that it was because he did not want Leni or anyone else to have the gold and that he was going to come and take it for himself.

    Leni explained to him that if you lie, then when you do tell the truth that no one will believe you and that it is wrong to want everything for yourself. Leni told Leo you feel better when you share with others.  Leo said that he was sorry for lying.

Leni had planned to keep all the gold for himself. That is why he did not want anyone to know where the gold was (especially Leo). In the end he decided to give everyone he knew some of the gold. That made everyone happy!
