Falling tears
Lauren Hall
Oh, what dreariness upon this languid day,
As these falling tears soon make puddles.
Oh, that I the sun.
To dry up these tears that fall like mine.
If only I had the moon,
I could but ignore all else.
I sit and watch as droplets fall from heaven.
What tears must he be crying?
What anguish have we caused?
Thy gloominess speaks of sorrow.
Thy rain talks of sadness.
Where art thou sun to bring the joy?
Thy moon to bring a smile?
Where hath all thy joy gone to?
Oh, that these darkened clouds would fade away.
Oh, how the trees bend over and weep.
All life hides inside to be comforted,
Waiting for happiness once more.
Why dost thou cry?
When laughter lies just behind?
Why is there a frown?
When a smile is just as easy?
Let us all return.
Let us return the gladness that is missing.
Oh, how I wait.
How I wait to see the coming son.
That is brimming right behind the clouds.
