Before Being Written Upon

As empty as a sheet of paper 

Before being written upon 

But I can’t write 

I need to break 


Make the tears fall 

Melt my heart, let it 

Beat again, give me 

Breath once more, speak 


Find a pulse please 

I feel as if I’m 

Suffocating, too weak 

To stand, to stop this pen 


The time I’ve been away 

Has created a wall 

Inside me, uncomprehending 

Fear of being alone 


I lift my hands 

In absolute surrender 

Your mercy flows down 

My face, tears descending 


Father, I love You 

So simple, so hard to say 

I need You, remind me 

Test me, try me 


As I come back 

You welcome me 

Eyes closed, emotions 

Over flown, full of You 


I give my life to You 

My pride, rip it from me 

My life is in Your hands 

For without You I have not any
