I. Introduction
Is
death a bad thing? The Bible says, 1Corinthians 15:21-22,; that through man
came death, so as through the Lord comes life.
The Lord doesn't like death (Ezekiel 18:32), but he
allows it to happen (James 1:15).
II. Definitions (if they give definitions-accept, or
challenge)
Life- a
permanent cessation of all vital functions
Death-a permanent cessation of all vital functions
Completely-having all necessary parts,
elements, or steps
Heal-to make sound or whole; to
restore to health
Believer-to have a firm religious faith
nonBeliever-a person who lacks
belief or faith, as in God, a religion, an idea, or an undertaking.
III. Points
A. Spiritual vs. physical healing
There
is spiritual healing and then there is physical healing. SPiritual healing is
healing or growing in your spiritual walk with the Lord, and physical healing
is healing done to your body.
God allows both healings to take place, but in some cases he makes them happen.
1. Allow vs. make
God can make something happen, but usually he allows things to happen.
2. Man has free will (Proverbs 4:20-27)
At the begining of time God allowed man to make his own choices. In
Genesis 9:1-3, is says that God gave man dominion over the plants of the field,
the birds of the air, the fish of the sea, and all the animals that walk on
land. Man has choice and decisions to make. God allowed Adam and Eve to
make the choice theirs whether or not they wanted to eat of the forbidden fruit
(Genesis 1:29-30; 2:17) but he instructed them not to. It is the will that God
gave to man. So in a way God allowed man to become mortal beings. He didn't
necessarily make us mortal though, even though he knew we were going to
be. We have free will to become who and whatever(career choice) we want and
instead of eternal beings, man (Adam) has chosen to be mortal.
B. People aren't always healed
The Bible says that if we call upon the Lord and believe in Him, we
will be healed (Exodus 15:25-26). However, God doesn't always heal
everyone(believer or non-believer). Example: if someone is battling cancer He
"may" heal them, but doesn't "always".
Believers aren't always healed-however, some non-belivers are healed. So, like
I said, God allows healing.
C. You cannot define who is or who isn't a believer
Only God knows the hearts and souls of everman. You just can't say,
"Oh, well, this guy died because he wasn't a believer. If he was, God
Would've healed him from his disease." No, we can't give this judgement.
D. God "allows" healing
Things happen all the time that God allows, but he doesn't necessarily
"make" them happen. Example: the Twin Towers. Thousands of innocent
people died but God didn't make this happen, he just allowed it to happen.
We learn from instances that happen in our lives, and that's were we can improve (Deuteronomy 4:9)
E. Physically, no one is ever completely healed
From
the time you are born until the time you die, your body is
"decreasing". When you are young your body grows older, and as you
grow older your body becomes weaker-you get aches and pains all over. YOur body
heals when it gets "cut" or something, but overall your body is
decreasing.
There is a Law, the Second Law of Thermodynamics, that states, "every
system left to itself will tend toward a condition of minimum potential energy
and maximum entropy(disorder).
Everything in the universe is decreasing-somethings
at a faster rate that others, but none-the-less our bodies are also
degenerating.
V. Conclusion
So, in
conclusion, we are constantly learning and growing but our bodies are (in a
sense) dying.
God will heal some people but he doesn't always. Sometimes he allows healing to take place in the body - naturally - and sometimes he intervenes for healing. But to say that he has the will to heal...well,...there are somethings that need defined in order for this to be true- 1)you can't categorize people, 2)no one is completely healed, and 3)there is different kinds of healing.
