A TESTIMONY
by Brenda Miller
A United States citizen that is a Christian, goes to church every week
or close to it, and lives by the law of the Ten Commandments. He obeys
Yahweh's laws and does his will by reading the Bible as much as possible. A
Christian also should try to tell other people about Christianity, and how it
is important in every day life, and that he lives it. And there are many
different forms of witnessing too. The Holy Spirit even witnesses (Romans 8:16
"The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of
Yahweh...”). We can witness without even knowing it. Just by saying, "God
Bless You," to someone who is having an "off" day can make a
world of a difference without us even knowing it.
A person that is not a Christian
but is in the process of becoming one to be naturalized into the
"household of God" should also read the Bible. Now this person is
different because he knows nothing about the Heavenly Father but wishes to
learn about him. When he starts reading his Bible and getting to know what the
Father is like, he is starting to get a little knowledge of what he is like.
Then eventually in time he will (hopefully) tell others about how he was
introduced to the Bible and how it has changed his life in becoming a Christian.
As Christians we should be the ones who welcome new people in the 'Family of
Yahweh.' That is what we're called to do.
Everyone of us are called to do something different-no two people are
alike-however, there is one thing we all have in common that we're called to
do, and that is witness to others (Matthew 14:14 "This gospel of the kingdom
shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the
nations,...."), but we each also have our own callings. It doesn't have to
be anything extravagant such as going to Ukraine and preaching the Bible, but
something simple such as meeting someone in Meijer and sharing your faith. I,
however, wouldn't encourage you just to walk up to someone and say, "Hey,
do you know Christ? If not, let me tell you about Him...." The Father has
His own will and time for everything, and we just need to let that happen and
the correct opportunities will come "knocking on the door"-we just
need to be patient and recognize one when it comes.
John was sent from the Father to be a testimony for Him, John 1:7-9
"John...He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all
might believe through him. He was not the Light, but he came to testify about
the Light. There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens
every man."
In fact, Yahweh is even a testimony in Himself. He sent His Son to die on the
cross for our sins. That is a huge thing to do. To those parents who have
children, could you allow your son to be crucified on the cross? A crown of
thorns placed upon his head? His hands and feet nailed to the cross? That would
be a humbling experience just to watch, but to actually allow your child
to go through that. But the Father did. And He did it for us, because He loves
us. That is an amazing story, and a wonderful example of witnessing to the
world. Yahweh sent His only Son to go to the earth and die on the cross for our
sins. Yahshua is a great example of a testimony, and he is Yahweh's testimony.
However, we can't just say, "Yes I go to church. I'm a believer. I've
accepted Yahshua as my personal Savior." No, it's not enough just to say
that we are followers, we actually have to live it out. Yahweh wants us to live
for Him, not act for Him. There is a big difference. Going to church is
one thing, and living it day-by-day is another.
John 1:12 "But as man has received Him, to them He gave the right to
become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born,
not of blood nor of the will of the flesh, not of the will of man, but of Yahweh."
To be one who accepts, and hears the testimony of the Father and Son is amazing
too. Because you are not just hearing about it, but you can also use your past
experiences to reach out to others and be a witness for Him as well. Not
everyone has stories or uses their past experiences to lead men to the Father,
but just the same, it's an outreach to bring others to Him, and we can all be
testimonies for Him-that's one of greatest things we can be...a Testimony!
1John 5:9 "If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of Yahweh is
greater; for the testimony of Yahweh is this, that He has testified concerning
His Son."
